LENTEN SOUP SUPPERS - Please join us!

Even if you don't go to church here, you are welcome to come and examine religion in an informal way.  Each Wednesday from February 24 and continuing through Holy Week, March 31, we will present a video series examining the relationship of the three Abrahamic faiths—Judaism, Christianity and Islam—to the Holy Land and to one another.  The evening begins with a soup supper on the lower level of the church in the Common Room.  (A free will offering will be collected.)  The evening is appropriate for adults and teens.  You may come to one or all, and if you missed the beginning, that is OK.  You are wanted and welcome whenever you can come.

The schedule for each Wednesday evening is:

6:30 PM Supper:

7:15 PM  Video: Each is approximately 30 minutes

7:45 PM  Discussion

The evening will conclude by 8:30.

The schedule for the videos and discussion is:

Feb. 24: The Children of Abraham—Introduces the world’s three monotheistic

faiths. Offers a glimpse of what it means to be a Jew, a Christian or a

Muslim and how the relationship among the three faiths has often turned

               tragic.

Mar. 3    The Desert—explores the desert as the spiritual and historical birthplace

               of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Mar. 10  Covenant and Reality—examines the struggle to live in accordance with

               the ideals of each religion.

Mar. 17  The Holy City—examines the critical place of Jerusalem in all three

               religions.

Mar. 24  The Word—explores the place of sacred writings in the three religions,

particularly the Torah for Jews, the Gospels for Christianity and the

               Koran for Muslims.

Mar. 31   The Living Spirit—reveals individuals within Judaism, Christianity and

Islam who are seeking to live as a source of light and hope for others.

Beyond questions of politics and peace, the Spirit of God moves.
