Help for Haiti
We are able, through UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief, to help earthquake ravaged Haiti and other areas affected by disaster. We are actively seeking monetary donations. Please send to the church at 3 Pound Ridge Road, Pound Ridge, NY 10576. We are also providing health kits to UMCOR.
A health kit is comprised of a one gallon zipper plastic bag to hold the following brand new items:
1 hand towel (15" x 25" up to 17" x 27")
1 washcloth
1 comb, large and sturdy
1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers.)
1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original package. No child size brushes.)
6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages.
$1.00 to buy toothpaste (which is purchased in bulk by UMCOR)
You may put together a health kit and drop it off to the church office and we will mail. We are also accepting donations for postage.
Heifer Project
It is PRCC's goal to raise $5,000 this year for Heifer Project International, a not for profit organization dedicated to helping families become self-reliant through the gift of farm animals. Donations can be sent to the church. You can make your check out directly to Heifer Project, or make it out to PRCC with Heifer in the memo. For more info. about Heifer, go to www.heifer.org.

February 27 is the Hoedown in the Hamlet, a square dancing evening of family fun which will raise awareness and collect donations for Heifer Project.
Souper Bowl of Caring
Our young people collected $730 and 55 pounds of food on Saturday, Feb. 6th at Scotts Corner Market for the "Souper Bowl of Caring" a nationwide youth-led movement to end hunger at the local level. 100% was donated to the Community Center of Northern Westchester for their food pantry.
PRCC's Committee on Missions and Outreach team has led the church in supporting many charities - local and throughout the world.
An alphabetical partial list follows:
A-Home (Low cost housing for Westchester families and indivicuals.) 2008's PRCC Lobster Festival's net proceeds of $10,000 was donated to help A-Home's building project in Scott's Corners, Pound Ridge. 2009's Lobster proceeds were donated to the Northern Westchester Shelter.
Bolivia Housing Project (on-going United Methodist Global Board of Ministries project to improve structural integrity of homes for locals)
Bread for the World (world hunger)
Community Center of Northern Westchester (local food assistance program). PRCC holds an annual food drive and monetary collection at Scott's Corner Market. Youth Group also participates in "Souper" Bowl of Caring and donates proceeds to the Community Center. 2008's youth collection was $1400 and 800 pounds of food. We do a monthly Food Collection Sunday. In 2009, we collected over 2,000 pounds of food.
Church World Service (relief, development and refugee assistance ministry)
Church World Service Blanket Fund (provides sturdy, warm blankets to assist victims of war, natural disasters and all emergencies.) In 2009 PRCC donated the Christmas Eve offering of $1,009.02 and has done so many years.
CROP Walk (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty. 2,200 walks take place all over the country.) PRCC sponsors the Northeast Westchester CROP walk which raised $43,000 in 2008. 25% of funds raised stay local going to the Community Center of Northern Westchester and the Interfaith Food Pantry in Mt. Kisco.
Heifer Project (ending world hunger and poverty by providing farm animals to families to enable them to sustain themselves.) PRCC's Sunday school children collected $750 in 2008. Our goal is $5,000 for 2009-2010. So far, we've collected $3,300 which is already on it's way to help families in the US and abroad.
Interfaith Food Pantry (food for local families and individuals) PRCC's April 2008 food drive collected 450 pounds of food and $500.
Midnight Run (provides assistance to homeless of NYC through volunteers who distribute food, clothing and blankets.) PRCC coordinated a run during Christmas week 2007 and also collected donations through Christmas cards. The women of PRCC meet often to sew bedrolls.
Northern Westchester Shelter (assistance for local victims of domestic violence) Christmas gift support in 2007, 2009 recipient of PRCC's Lobster Festival: $10,000
Peter C. Alderman Foundation (assistance for victims of terrorist and other violence) PRCC supported with $1,000 in 2007
Rehabilitation Through the Arts (drama program for Sing Sing prison inmates)
Salish-Kootenai Gerald Slater Memorial Fund (scholarship fund for American Indians on the Flathead Reservation)
United Methodist Home (senior living home in Shelton, CT)
Women's Advocacy Ministry (provides legal support to incarcerated women and their children.) Supported at Christmas 2007 with Gift Cards.
