All children are welcome to join us for Sunday School! Children should come to the sanctuary with their parents.
Ongoing Mission Projects:
Health Kits for Haiti
Kids and adults are invited to put together a health kit which will be distributed through UMCOR (The United Methodist Committee on Relief.) (See missions page for a listing of required items.) This is a great, tangible way for kids to help. Please drop kits off in the narthex. So far we've mailed 94 health kits to UMCOR's distribution center.
Heifer Project - Beginning on October 18th, 2009 and ongoing until June 2010. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to fill the ark. (Sending an "ark" of animals to help impoverished people all over the world.) www.heifer.org.
We've raised $3,900+ so far!
Kids: Fill up your Heifer coin banks!
Mitten Tree and Coat Purchase:
We collected an enormous amount of mittens, gloves, scarves, and hats on Sunday, December 13th to hang on the Mitten Tree. We were able to purchase 28 children's coats (using the children's offering money) that we donated to the Community Center in Katonah. Thanks to all!

Food Collection Sundays
On the last Sunday of the month, we will be collecting non-perishable food items (protein items such as hearty soups, tuna, peanutbutter and pasta) for The Community Center of Northern Westchester. The children will come through the sanctuary during Children's Time to collect your items. Here's what we've collected so far . . .
February through December 2009 - 1087 lbs
(Our best month was 261 lbs.!)
January 2010 - 73 lbs
Help us care for those in need!
In 2009:
Education Sunday
The children performed a special broadcast of the "Jesus News Network" on Education Sunday, June 14th. It was our annual year-end celebration of Sunday School.
Clothing Collection
The children donated their gently used clothing for a school in North Stamford in the spring of 2009.
Goodies for the Soldiers
The children collected snack items and toys for the children in Iraq and sent 13 boxes to the soldiers.
Philosophy of Sunday School:
At PRCC, children aren’t the “future of the church”, we recognize that they are the “NOW of the church!” and we want them to love coming here. We think that Sunday school should be a fun and safe way to learn more about the Bible, God, Jesus, and about being a Christian. The church service starts with children sitting with their parents in the sanctuary, experiencing the music and prayers along with the adults. Even though they may be coloring or doing a puzzle, they are learning that religion is important to the grown-ups around them. The pastor will then call the children forward to hear a short children’s message. After that, children exit to Sunday school where they are divided into three age- based groups for a rotation style format. Our Sunday School Coordinator is on hand to see that children get to the right place. Each group rotates to three activities so that they can experience the bible story in three different ways. A typical Sunday might include a storytelling center, a craft center and a game center. Kids are loving the more active movement and having fun while learning.
8th graders have embarked on a year long journey toward confirmation.
We are having fun while learning in Sunday School!
