All children are welcome to join us for Sunday School! Children should come to the sanctuary with their parents.

Christmas Pageant 2010

Jesus taught us to care for others. We believe that children need to be given many opportunities to see this in action:
Mission Projects:
Spring 2011 : Redlands Christian Migrant Association, Immokalee, FL. The mission of this organization is to create and foster opportunities for the children of migrant and low-income rural families to maximize their choices in their lives. We are lucky to have a local connection as 2 of our members serve on the advisory committee of this organization. We love the idea of kids helping kids. We raised more than $500 which was used to purchase industrial strength tricycles for the Children's House. We also collected clothing, shoes, toys, and books.
Completed Mission Projects 2010:
Mitten and Pajama Tree - Dec. 5, 2010 We collected 132 NEW items (56 pounds!) for the Community Center. 57 pajama sets, 11 flannel bottoms, 12 bathrobes, 5 shirts, 8 slippers, 33 mittens and 6 hats.

Health Kits for Haiti
Our church put together almost 100 health kits for Haiti which were distributed through UMCOR (The United Methodist Committee on Relief.)
Heifer Project - We had a lofty fundraising goal of $5,000 and WE MADE IT! We raised more than $5,200 which was sent to Heifer Project to fill an "ark" with life changing animals that will help families here and abroad to increase their incomes and standard of living. www.heifer.org.

Food Collection Sundays
On the last Sunday of the month, we will be collecting non-perishable food items (protein items such as hearty soups, tuna, peanutbutter and pasta) for The Community Center of Northern Westchester. The children will come through the sanctuary during Children's Time to collect your items.
Philosophy of Sunday School:
At PRCC, children aren’t the “future of the church”, we recognize that they are the “NOW of the church!” and we want them to love coming here. We think that Sunday school should be a fun and safe way to learn more about the Bible, God, Jesus, and about being a Christian. The church service starts with children sitting with their parents in the sanctuary, experiencing the music and prayers along with the adults. Even though they may be coloring or doing a puzzle, they are learning that religion is important to the grown-ups around them. The pastor will then call the children forward to hear a short children’s message. After that, children exit to Sunday school. When we are using curriculum, children report to their classroom for age based religious instruction. The lesson is a bible story accompanied by several fun activities. When we are doing rotation format, they are divided into three age- based groups and then rotate to 3 different activity centers so that they can experience the bible story in three different ways. A typical Sunday might include a storytelling center, a craft center and a game center. Kids are loving the more active movement and having fun while learning.
Our Sunday School Coordinator is on hand to see that children get to the right place.
