Statement of Inclusion

We, the people of the Pound Ridge Community Church, believe that we are called to ministry for and with all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age, faith history, economic status, relationship status, physical and mental ability, or education.  We affirm that we were all created in God’s image.  We acknowledge that we are all equally in need of the love and grace that God freely gives, without bias or conditions.

We believe that human sexuality is a good gift from God, and that God rejoices in the healthy use of this gift in loving relationships amongst all couples, regardless of sex and gender expression.  We celebrate all their unions, as we believe God does.  We oppose barriers to ordination for anyone God has called to use their gifts and graces in service to the Gospel.

We covenant together to make Pound Ridge Community Church a place of welcome and inclusion, and to support attitudes and policies within our denomination that recognize the sacramental equality of all of God’s children.  We pledge ourselves to this work, looking ahead to the day when “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors” will be truly embraced by all United Methodists.
