Jazz Vespers Details for January 18th at 4 PM

During the time of the Covid lockdown, Pete Malinverni and Juliet Kurtzman collaborated on a duet recording, “Candlelights - Love in the Time of Cholera”, featuring music of the Americas, including tangos, choriños, Jazz and parlor music. Here, they have enlarged the group to a quartet, featuring two musicians of the first rank, bassist Charlie Himel and drummer Aaron Seeber. This is a performance sure to please anyone who likes music infused with passion and joy.

Juliet Kurtzman is a world-class classically trained violinist originally from Houston, TX, who was featured soloist, beginning with her debut at age 11, with the Houston, Dallas and Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestras. After continuing her studies at the acclaimed Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Juliet moved to Europe to concertize and teach, working for years as first violinist with the Luzern Symphony Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in Switzerland. Now living in New York, she performs in various settings, including the one you will hear at this recital. She also teaches, at 92Y, New York’s Special Music School and the Hebrew Union College School of Religion.

Juliet and Pete look forward to an upcoming March 25 performance at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
